We collaborated closely with the clients of this large site to establish a place of rest and reflection. The work was divided into two phases: in the first phase a half-acre, organic potager garden was created with a pergola to provide shelter from the sun and a place to enjoy the garden's beauty. Even the bay hedges, which give the space structure, are edible. The potager is a transformative experience, not just for the clients but for the gardeners. Ten years later, phase two began with the mission to connect the potager with the existing grounds. A greensward was established in order to knit the two areas together and provide vistas across the property. Along the edge of this large green space, a swimming pool--which looks more like a large reflecting pool--was built to demarcate the edge of the lawn and serve as a focal point to the upper edge of the property.
